Metal cladding is a beautiful and strong addition to any building, creating a unique architectural design, reducing noise, and making a structure more energy-efficient. Our team at Alpine Sheet Metal Systems custom designs metal cladding in five forms:
- Aluminum Composite Material (ACM) Panels
- Standing Seam
- Snaplock
- Interlocking Panels
- Metal Siding

Types of Metal Cladding
Metal cladding provides the perfect combination of aesthetic beauty with protection and durability.
When you work with us at Alpine Sheet Metal Systems, we can offer five different metal cladding forms meeting a wide range of design styles and project budgets:
Aluminum Composite Material (ACM) Panels
These aluminum panels are fire-resistant, rust-resistant, and pest-resistant. They hold up to the elements while also offering a modern look and feel. ACM panels are extremely popular for taller buildings like commercial skyscrapers and residential structures as they reduce exterior noise and greatly cut down energy costs.
Their panel design makes this form easy to install and repair as well.
Standing Seam
This form is one of the most popular for many reasons:
- It can be fabricated to most lengths and widths with ease
- It can be created from a wide-range of metal materials
- It can have a variety of coatings and colors
Standing seam roofs have interlocking components that make them extremely water-resistant and they are fire-resistant as well. The interlocking design means that the connections are not exposed and standing seam roofs boast a long lifespan.
They are a great green material option and are also extremely resilient against the elements.
Snaplock
Snaplock is very similar to standing seam except that the metal panels snap together as the name suggests. This makes installation quick and easy, saving quite a bit of time and money with labor. This form is also less expensive than standing seam, so it’s a great choice for those on a tighter budget.
Interlocking Panels
An interlocking panel is fabricated with a groove on the edge that fits into a groove on the edge of the panel next to it. These two edges lock together during installation, but the fasteners are concealed, creating a flat, smooth, and elegant-looking roof.
We are seeing more and more architects and builders using interlocking panels because of their modern look and feel.
Metal Siding
Metal siding is specifically designed for the exterior sides of a home or building instead of the roof. This means architectural designs can include metal siding with a wide range of roofing material options, creating a unique look and the illusion of size (it’s a great way to make a smaller building look taller when installed vertically, for example).
Metal siding can be fabricated from a variety of materials with popular options being rustic steel, weathering steel, and copper. It’s truly impressive how many options designers can have with metal siding.
